Dashboard öffnen

Klicke auf das 📖 BookShelf-Icon in der Chrome-Toolbar. Das Dashboard öffnet sich in einem neuen Tab.

Erstes Buch hinzufügen

Klicke auf „+ Buch hinzufügen". Gib einfach die RoyalRoad- oder Amazon-URL deines Buchs ein und drücke 🔍 Auto-Fill – Titel, Autor, Cover und Beschreibung werden automatisch geladen.

Lesefortschritt eintragen

Wähle dein aktuelles Kapitel aus dem Dropdown (bei RoyalRoad werden alle Kapitel automatisch geladen) oder trage den Band manuell ein.

Fertig!

Dein Buch erscheint im Dashboard. Nutze das Side Panel (Rechtsklick → BookShelf) für einen schnellen Überblick deiner aktiven Bücher.

Open the Dashboard

Click the 📖 BookShelf icon in the Chrome toolbar. The dashboard opens in a new tab.

Add your first book

Click "+ Add Book". Simply enter the RoyalRoad or Amazon URL of your book and press 🔍 Auto-Fill – title, author, cover and description are loaded automatically.

Enter your reading progress

Select your current chapter from the dropdown (for RoyalRoad, all chapters are loaded automatically) or enter the volume manually.

Done!

Your book appears in the dashboard. Use the Side Panel (right-click → BookShelf) for a quick overview of your active books.

Buch hinzufügen

Adding a Book

URL eingeben

Klicke auf „+ Buch hinzufügen". Im Feld oben kannst du eine RoyalRoad-URL (z.B. royalroad.com/fiction/12345/...) oder eine Amazon-URL (z.B. amazon.de/dp/B09M...) eingeben.

Auto-Fill nutzen

Drücke 🔍 Auto-Fill. BookShelf erkennt die Quelle automatisch und lädt alle Infos: Titel, Autor, Cover, Beschreibung und Tags. Bei RoyalRoad werden zusätzlich alle Kapitel geladen.

Anpassen & Speichern

Passe Status, Genre und Notizen an. Füge bei Bedarf weitere Quellen hinzu (z.B. wenn das Buch auch auf Kindle gibt). Dann 💾 Speichern.

Enter a URL

Click "+ Add Book". In the field at the top, enter a RoyalRoad URL (e.g. royalroad.com/fiction/12345/...) or an Amazon URL (e.g. amazon.com/dp/B09M...).

Use Auto-Fill

Press 🔍 Auto-Fill. BookShelf detects the source automatically and loads all info: title, author, cover, description and tags. For RoyalRoad, all chapters are loaded as well.

Customize & Save

Adjust status, genre and notes. Add additional sources if needed (e.g. if the book is also on Kindle). Then hit 💾 Save.

Kapitel wählen

Öffne ein Buch und nutze das Kapitel-Dropdown mit Suchfunktion. Tippe z.B. „215" und wähle das passende Kapitel – dein Fortschritt wird automatisch gespeichert.

Kindle-Band zuordnen (Cross-Source Mapping)

Bei Kindle-Quellen erscheint das Feld "Geht bis vor RR Kapitel". Hier gibst du an, welches RoyalRoad-Kapitel dem Ende deines Kindle-Bands entspricht.

Beispiel: Du liest Defiance of the Fall – auf Kindle bist du bei Band 6 fertig, was ungefähr RR Kapitel 600 entspricht. Trage 600 ein oder wähle das Kapitel aus dem Dropdown. BookShelf weiß dann: dein Fortschritt ist Kapitel 600. Wenn RoyalRoad aktuell Kapitel 850 zeigt, siehst du +250 neue Kapitel – korrekt über beide Quellen berechnet.

Select a chapter

Open a book and use the chapter dropdown with search. Type e.g. "215" and select the matching chapter – your progress is saved automatically.

Map Kindle Volumes (Cross-Source Mapping)

For Kindle sources, you'll see a field called "Covers up to RR Chapter". This lets you specify which RoyalRoad chapter corresponds to the end of your Kindle volume.

Example: You're reading Defiance of the Fall – you finished KU Volume 6, which covers roughly up to RR Chapter 600. Enter 600 in the field (or pick from the chapter dropdown if RR chapters are loaded). BookShelf now knows your actual progress is Chapter 600. If RoyalRoad currently shows Chapter 850, you'll see +250 new chapters – accurately calculated across both sources.

Einzeln oder alle

Klicke bei einem Buch auf 🔄 Update prüfen oder im Dashboard auf 🔄 Alle prüfen. BookShelf ruft die aktuelle Kapitelzahl von RoyalRoad ab und zeigt dir neue Kapitel an.

Neue Kapitel auf einen Blick

In der Kachel- und Listenansicht siehst du ein +X Badge bei Büchern mit neuen Kapiteln. Sortiere nach „Neue Kapitel" um sie ganz oben zu sehen.

Single or bulk

Click 🔄 Check updates on a book or 🔄 Check all in the dashboard toolbar. BookShelf fetches the current chapter count from RoyalRoad and shows you new chapters.

New chapters at a glance

In grid and list view, books with new chapters show a +X badge. Sort by "New Chapters" to see them at the top.

Tipp: Das Side Panel (Rechtsklick auf das BookShelf-Icon → „Side Panel öffnen") zeigt dir eine kompakte Übersicht deiner aktuell gelesenen Bücher.

BookShelf speichert alle Daten ausschließlich lokal in deinem Browser. Es werden keine Daten an externe Server gesendet, es gibt keinen Account und kein Tracking.

⚠️

Wichtig: Wenn du BookShelf deinstallierst, werden alle Daten gelöscht. Nutze Einstellungen → Daten exportieren, um regelmäßig ein Backup zu erstellen.

Important: Uninstalling BookShelf will delete all data. Use Settings → Export Data to create regular backups.

Kann ich BookShelf auf mehreren Geräten nutzen? ▼

Die Daten werden aktuell nicht automatisch synchronisiert. Du kannst aber deine Bibliothek unter Einstellungen → Daten exportieren als JSON sichern und auf dem anderen Gerät importieren.

Warum braucht BookShelf Zugriff auf RoyalRoad und Amazon? ▼

Der Zugriff wird ausschließlich für die Auto-Fill-Funktion und den Kapitel-Update-Check benötigt. BookShelf liest nur Buchtitel, Autor, Cover und Kapitelübersicht – keine persönlichen Daten.

Funktioniert BookShelf auch offline? ▼

Das Dashboard und alle gespeicherten Bücher funktionieren komplett offline. Nur für Auto-Fill und Update-Checks wird eine Internetverbindung benötigt.

Kann ich eigene Quelltypen anlegen? ▼

Ja! Unter Einstellungen → Quelltypen kannst du beliebige Quellen hinzufügen oder entfernen (z.B. „Patreon", „Ko-fi", „Eigene Website").

Can I use BookShelf on multiple devices? ▼

Data is not synced automatically at this time. However, you can export your library under Settings → Export Data as JSON and import it on another device.

Why does BookShelf need access to RoyalRoad and Amazon? ▼

Access is used exclusively for the Auto-Fill feature and the chapter update check. BookShelf only reads book title, author, cover and chapter list – no personal data.

Does BookShelf work offline? ▼

The dashboard and all saved books work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed for Auto-Fill and update checks.

Can I create custom source types? ▼

Yes! Under Settings → Source Types you can add or remove any sources (e.g. "Patreon", "Ko-fi", "Personal Website").
